a very jew-y chanukah

i got to celebrate chanukah with some of my favorite musical jews: ben
kweller and matisyahu. my awesome sister got me tickets. we
accidently ended up backstage whilst trying to find the restroom,
and gawked at BK for a few minutes before being chased away by security. matisyahu rocked our yarmulkes off. highly recommended.

the boots-over-pants ratio was high at the concert, but
still, we found enough genuine jews to get a decent hora circle going.

(side note: ladies, forget jdate. if you're in the market for a nice,
hip jewish boyfriend, look no further than a matisyahu concert.)

after chanukah, i got my christmas on. i helped the roomie decorate our tree (first ever!)
and then lil and i made gingerbread houses. well, i made a house and she made a trailer, because she's country. when she explained that it was a "double wide" i had no idea what she was talking about. (in my defense, i'm from jersey; if it's not a mall or a diner, i'm clueless.)

anyway, here's my house. isn't it perfect?

well, not entirely perfect.

muuuuch better.
merry christmas, kids.

Random pictures from EEL's camera

I have a tendency to take pictures on my digital camera and then take months to move them to my computer so I can share them. So...after about 6 months...I proudly present you--random pictures from EEL's camera.

I baked this all by myself--with apples that I picked fresh from a farm--just call me Martha--actually Martha is annoying--just call me the Barefoot Contessa.

Well--this is the INSANE flip cup tournament I played in. It was all the teams in my kickball league. I promise--I'm not usually this much of a goonette.

12 tables playing simultaneously
27 teams
5 hours
We didn't win--but we did win the kickball league, and regardless of what your mother told you when you were a below average athlete and student, winning is important.

And now--the piece de resistance--I proudly present:

The guy from the Sunoco station on the New Jersey Turnpike. He's so good--I don't even have to say anything smart assey.

I think he's a sign that I should visit Danger more often--like for New Years!

Just when I thought life couldn't be any better....

Well here I am...just about half way into my month off between jobs. I'm really loving life. I sleep till 11 everyday. I got DVR for christmas--so my TV watching has reached epic proportions. I'm really excited about my new great job.

So just when I think that life could't be any better...I read this:

Brady, Moynahan reportedly break up

I always told you that she was too old for you Tom.

You really need a younger woman, one who loves football...and bacon...and who isn't busy with their C-list celebrity so-called career.

Now--you'd better go out and win the last three games of the season so we at least have a prayer in the playoffs.

good news!

my final class of the semester was cancelled, which is sweet because i was...how you say..."unprepared." i'm interpreting the cancellation as a sign that god approves of me watching a shitload of football instead of doing my homework.

i am celebrating my good fortune by watching monday night football and eating a dinner consisting only of side orders from boston market. mmmmmm.

if you'll excuse me, i have chanukah presents to knit...

is it too late to audit?

tomorrow is the last class of the semester, and i've got to submit a portfolio of my best work.

i guess i was supposed to be revising and editing my work as we went along, but guess what...i didn't. and now it's the day before, and i'm sitting around in my track pants, drinking pots of coffee, and "working" on this portfolio and it struck me that in the 2 1/2 years since graduating college, i've done absolutely nothing to curb my procrastination tendencies.

the only difference is that in college i procrastinated by watching judy garland biographies on A&E or making pancakes. now i make enchilladas and watch football and clean the bathroom. plus, i now have a disposable income which allows me to buy chanukah presents (for myself) on amazon.com during commercial breaks.

somebody kill me, please.

size matters

meet my new best friend:

i got this tv for free because a friend of a friend moved to utah and needed to get rid of it.
let's compare:
old tv = 13"
new tv = 32"
that's almost a 300% increase in screen size, bitches.

i've been breaking it in with west wing dvds and football, my new favorite sport. here's what i like about football:
-the blitz
-the kickers

also, i'm potting and knitting like it's my job. everyone's getting a hand-made gift this year, so make room at the back of your closets, kids.

I heart YouTube

A little present from me to you on this cold Monday in December. It is wonderful and hilarious. There's something for everyone. It's called "Brady" a remake of the song "Lady" by Kenny Rogers.
