and it's not even my birthday

hello chums,
yesterday morning, after meeting me at zabars for bagels, bassi presented me with this:

for the record, i am not currently a crazy cat lady, but it's understood that i have crazy cat lady potential, and bassi is doing her part to encourage this by giving me an action figure of my future self. it's the most hilarious yet depressing gift ever given to me in my entire life and i love it to pieces and laughed so hard when she gave it to me.

in other news, my new best friend at work gave me a dvd of my favorite infomercial OF ALL TIME, so that i can watch it any time i damn well please. so of course i'm watching it right now while drinking beer and peeing my pants with laughter. oh, i'm also sitting on the balcony in my new captain's chair which has infinitely improved my life in the short time it's been with me (we're talking 45 minutes). this thing has not 1, but 2 cupholders! and a footrest! and a little pillow that cushions my head!

it's sort of ridiculous how content the simple things make me.

saturday i drove by this place and had to take a picture.

Q: why is the name "scoopy doos" so funny?
A: it just is.

productivity

things i did yesterday:
-lost my wallet, panicked, checked the car, called the last place where i remember having it (whole foods), shat my pants, called mastercard to cancel the credit card, sat on hold for like 20 minutes and whilst on hold, found wallet on floor next to bed, where it landed friday night after i swept all my shit onto the floor and passed out over the covers.
-recovered from wallet trauma by drinking corona and reading on balcony
-finally saw "the squid and the whale" and liked it very much

things i accomplished today:
-broke in new chuck taylors
-added new paste magazine music sampler tracks to ipod
-sorry, nothing else of note.

Gay Parents & Easter Eggs

Well, after about 45 not so subtle reminders that I should blog, I have decided to talk about the fact that I LOVE this: http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/04/13/eastereggroll.ap/index.html

Apparently, thousands of gay and lesbian parents are getting together to hoard as many of the 16,000 thousand or so tickets available for the official White House Easter Egg Roll as they can.
Why you ask? Let's ask their spokesperson, Jennifer Chrisler.

"The message is that gay and lesbian families are everywhere in this country," said Chrisler. "We care about the same things that all parents care about: providing our children with every opportunity and every experience possible."

Let me just say that I think this is awesome. It kinda makes me want to rent a child (you need a kid in order to get into the event) and go just to see George and Laura there with THOUSANDS of gays and lesbians.

Also--just a note. If you don't already know---Bassi, Danger and I are all playing Fantasy Baseball in the "Beer and Pancakes" league. We're all doing rather poorly---but I wanted to be clear that Im beating them both. Ill be sure to keep everyone posted as a surge up the standings.

TVDVD!

yeah hi, it's been awhile, but dont' worry, it's not like i was busy being cool or anything (see bassi's previous post).

there is a liquor store in my neighborhood that is ALSO A BAR. is this a thing now? the roommates and i dropped in the other night to pick up some beer, and ended up staying for a drink, and then another drink, and then a few hours later we were drunk in a liquor store in new jersey. f'ing rad. i've decided that it is the perfect place for me to accomplish life goal #49, which is to become a "regular" at a local drinking establishment.

also, i am now obsessed with "arrested development." my good friend Lil lent me her tvdvds* and i am madly in love with it. jason bateman goes on the list of people i want to make out with fiercely.

*side note: new obsession #2: saying "TV DVD" aloud with various european accents. you really must try it.
