EEL and Danger are pleased to announce that they renewed their vows during a private ceremony on Monday November 13th, 2006 at the Chef Geoff's in Washington, DC.
Grammy award winning artist James Taylor performed at the reception, held at the Warner Theatre, singing such classics as "Sweet Baby James" and "Carolina in my Mind" for the happy couple.
Our insane rings looked something like this--except fake. It was a day during which we were able to relive the first joyous moments of our whirlwind romance back in the fall of 2003.
i played field hockey in high school and really didn't like it. here's why:
-kilts: glorified skirts, and i don't do skirts.
-sportsmanship: highly overrated, and frankly, not for me.
-other than that, it was great, actually.
anyway, it's been many years since high school and i'd pretty much forgotten about hockey of all varieties until last night, when i went to my first NHL game. i loved it. first of all, what's better than a zamboni? second, because i'm so well-connected, we got to sit in the employee seating section, so we had an excellent view. third, for a misanthrope like me, it's really heartwarming to see all the fighting, and it's even better to hear a stadium full of people cheering for some guy to get his ass kicked.
last year at work, when a producer started choking a director during a live broadcast, he got fired. i say that's bullshit. let them go at it for a couple minutes and then the teleprompter can break it up. it's a healthy release of aggression, plus it's good tv. i think i'm going to try to incorporate more physical violence into my everyday life from now on - my job, school, pottery class...
in conclusion: hockey, i love you. go devils.
i cannot possibly describe how excellent it was to see eel last weekend in d.c. highlights include:
-margaritas, obviously
-eating the entire animal kingdom
-befriending this little guy in the park outside the capitol:
(did you know squirrels like peanut m&m's? well, they do.) -annoying the shit out of josh by reciting dialogue from our favorite movie
-touring the capitol as guests of HRC
-saturday dinner
-10,000 glasses of wine
-national zoo. we saw a sloth bear, baby otters, and got a cooking lesson:

i love election night. i really, truly do.
the way some people feel about the super bowl is how i feel about election night. the hype, the hours and hours of tv coverage, the commentary and analysis, the statistics, the theme music - this is good shit.

really, though, it's the rivalry that gets me all worked up. the dems are my beloved home team, and for the past 6 years, they've been the underdogs. and the republicans are the villians in red neckties. and tonight, they battle it out, live on tv. and like with any great rivalry, it's not enough to just win. the ultimate goal is to win BIG and make the other team cry.
but seriously, i want the house and i want the senate, but mostly what i want is for the democrats to act like democrats - to get us out of iraq; to protect reproductive rights; to figure out universal healthcare; to protect the environment; to research cures for diseases however possible; to allow anyone who wants it the right to marry (or the right to own multiple cats).
also, i want to say that chris matthews sucks ass, and i truly miss peter jennings.
side note: because i am a masshole at heart, i put this sticker on my car 2 weeks ago:
atta boy, deval.
